Customers paid more for several food items while vendors complained about slow sales in Port of Spain last week. Consumers also paid higher prices for small and large tomatoes and sweet peppers.But ginger, a staple at Christmas, has dropped significantly, from about $90 per lb to around $30 per lb. Ochroes are now among the cheapest vegetables at the market.
